Toure plays down chances
City have acquired the considerable talents of Toure, David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov during the transfer window, while they are also closing in on Inter Milan's Mario Balotelli, and many expect the Eastlands side to challenge for the Premier League title this season. However, Toure believes it may be too hard to topple the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal this season but feels that City could go all the way in the 2011/2012 campaign. "I am very happy to sign for the club and I think this year will be very good for Man City," said Toure. "For the moment what I expect is for the club to go up, maybe finish third or fourth to be in the Champions League qualification. "After one year with these players maybe we can take the championship. "For now it is so difficult because with top teams like Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal they need to work hard to go up."

Scholes pinpoints main rivals
The Blues denied the Red Devils a fourth straight league title last season, while bitter rivals City came extremely close to securing a Champions League place as they finished fifth in the table. Due to the strengthening of their local rivals' squad - such as the purchases of Yaya Toure and David Silva - suggestions have been made that they could win the top prize. Scholes however, is more confident that United can claim the title back off Carlo Anchelotti's men, but still is wary of their city and London rivals. He said: "Who will our biggest rivals for the title be? You have got to say Chelsea. And the rest? You just do not know."City? We will have to see what happens there. They have bought so many players. Whether they can gel together remains to be seen. "Will their spending help to motivate us? Yes," he added."The last thing we want is City above us. It has not happened while I have been here and hopefully it won't." The midfielder is also warning against[...]

Man City signing Silva: English weather not putting me off
Chelsea David Silva Manchester City Valencia Manchester City signing David Silva insists he can handle England's ice cold winters. Silva comes from the sun-kissed island of Gran Canaria and is relaxing there in the sweltering heat before he joins up with his new Blues team-mates on Monday. Foreign stars have struggled in the past to adapt to the Mancunian weather and the £24million Spain winger claims it will not be a problem. "I know that the weather in Manchester is different than Valencia or the Canaries," he said. "But I'm coming to Manchester to play football in a great team, not for sunbathing or going to the beach!" Silva's City debut will be against his old club Valencia at Eastlands on August 7 and he is thrilled to be meeting his former team-mates so soon. "It will be a nice start, won't it?" said Silva, who has scored on his two previous games in England against City and Chelsea. "I enjoyed my time with Valencia so it's great that my old club[...]

Sorry, It's The Rules: Manchester City Must Sell Players
Manchester City have been known over the past few years as a team who could afford just about any player they wanted. Since Abu Dhabi United Group bought the club in 2008, the club have bought Robinho, Gareth Berry, Roque Santa Cruz, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Joleon Lescott, Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure, David Silva, and Aleksandar Kolarev, as well as other role players. The club's purchases have lifted the club to fifth in the Premier League and into the UEFA Europa League. However, no one can escape the rules, and the Eastlands' club are going to have to face reality, as they will be forced to sell at least thirteen players by September First. This comes after manager Roberto Mancini set a goal of spending 100 million British pounds by the end of the transfer period. The original number reported by ESPNSoccernet is twelve, but reports indicate an agreement has been reached between Inter Milan and Manchester City in a deal for Italian teenage phenom Mario Balotelli.New Premier[...]

Fernando Torres: Why a Manchester City Move Would Not Suit Him
Amid increased speculation about a potential transfer to Manchester City, Fernando Torres should turn down their overtures. City manager Roberto Mancini recently praised the Spanish superstar in New York during their preseason tour."Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well," Mancini told the gathered press at Red Bull Arena. While the Liverpool striker would be enticed by the prospect of playing in a team full of stars and that he can basically name his as wages, City's owners are desperate to sign him. Yaya Touré was recently lured to City in a £200,000 a week deal after leaving Spanish champions Barcelona.  If Torres were to join The Citizens, he could command unheard of wages. If we he were to arrive at Eastlands, Sky Blues supporters could celebrate their first English top division title since 1968.  Adding his name to an impressive list of Carlos Tévez, David Silva, Emmanuel[...]

Why James Milner and Aston Villa Need Each Other
Over the past few days, speculation has heated up dramatically over the future of Aston Villa and England star James Milner. After resisting the £24 million overtures of world football giants Manchester United a few months back, it's now the turn of their city rivals to really up the ante and properly try to lure Milner to the delights of Manchester.Mega rich vultures Manchester City are currently trying to land the Villa playmaker, with manager Roberto Mancini leaving this one to the moneymen while he tries to persuade good friend Mario Balotelli (or 'Super Mario' as they call him in non-racist parts of Italy) to ditch Inter Milan and join Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov at world football's most omnipotent juggernaut.Whilst Milner may have returned to training today at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training complex, his well documented future is still well and truly up in the air, with a move to England's version of[...]

Man Utd, Arsenal encouraged in pursuit of Ozil
Arsenal Barcelona Benfica Carlo Ancelotti Chelsea David Silva Manchester City Manchester United Real Madrid Roberto Mancini Valencia Werder Bremen World Cup Manchester United and Arsenal are eyeing Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Ozil. Ozil is a Barcelona fan and dreams of moving to the Nou Camp, but the Catalan giants and rivals Real Madrid have delayed making a move for him while they look at other targets. Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is also a big admirer but has other priorities, such as Benfica's Brazil midfielder Ramires. The Sunday Times says the stalemate has opened the door to United and Arsenal, who may test the water with a £10m bid. Both clubs are understood to be monitoring the World Cup star's availability and could steal a march on their rivals by making a decisive move. Manchester City have also been linked, but Roberto Mancini has already signed David Silva from Valencia and has a plethora of midfield options.   Need your Manchester[...]

Mancini sets sights on Torres
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has admitted he is fighting a losing battle to keep Torres at Anfield and City now look set to test the water by making an offer for the Spanish ace. City have already signed Jerome Boateng, Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure and David Silva this summer but there is still cash to spend and Mancini wants Torres on board if a deal can be struck. Agreeing a fee will be the hardest part but Mancini is expected to make his move over the coming week. "Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well. But it depends on his situation - his price and whether he wants to come," he said. "There are two or three strikers that we could go for, but it is the same situation as it is with James Milner. First there is the price and then it depends if the players want to change team. Until today, Liverpool haven't bought many players."

Eight Moves Manchester City Must Make to Get Into the Champions League
Manchester City has always been regarded as one of the better teams in the English Premier League, but not good enough to win an UEFA Championship.Last season, the team placed fifth in the English Premier League, a solid but not stellar performance.During the summer transfer window, the team, lead by manager Roberto Mancini and its new wealthy owners from Abu Dhabi, have made many aggressive moves to dispel their critics.Although the window is not yet over, the team has already secured the rights to David Silva (£25 million), Yaya Toure (£25 million), Jerome Boateng (£15 million), and most recently Alexander Kolarov (£19 million).Overall, the team has spent nearly £90 million on transfer targets. Even with these big four signings, the team still needs to make additional moves should it want to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League. On the next slides are eight additional moves Manchester City should make. Please feel free to comment and[...]
