Peter Crouch has admitted Tottenham squandered the chance to pull away from Liverpool in the chase for a Champions League finish. Spurs - who missed the chance to go eight points clear of the Merseyside giants last month when they lost 2-0 at Anfield - have lost speed in their bid for a top-four finish with two successive draws since Dirk Kuyt's double sunk them in January. "There was an opportunity earlier in the season," said England striker Crouch. "We had a couple of draws and it was frustrating we couldn't pull away more. But I still feel we have enough ability. "You look around the dressing room at the players who aren't playing and there is so much quality here. I still believe we have a real opportunity." Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admits he's happy to have Dirk Kuyt available. The Anfield boss admits his Dutch forward is hardly the most popular player in the team, nor the most skillful. But he insisted that Kuyt does have one of the biggest hearts, which beats at the centre of everything that is important to his side. “I think everyone knows now what Kuyt can do for us. He’s not a player that is very skilful; not in the way we would normally understand of a skilful player with that kind of ability," the manager explained. "But he has quality and is fantastic in every game, working really hard for the team. He can do so many different jobs, and sacrifices everything for his team-mates. "Against Everton, we knew that Baines has been having a very good season so Kuyt made sure he worked hard keeping him busy. Attacking has sometimes been a problem for him but he is scoring more goals now. His teammates know he is a very good player, as do the fans." |

Dirk Kuyt was delighted to hit his 50th goal for Liverpool in their derby triumph over Everton. The Holland international stretched the Reds' unbeaten run to seven league matches with a 54th minute header after Sotirios Kyrgiakos' first-half red card had threatened to hand Everton the initiative. "It's a great feeling and I'm really happy to have scored 50 goals for the club, especially in a game like this," he told liverpoolfc.tv. "But I don't think it mattered who scored, just that we got the win. "I think we showed belief when we had 10 men and that comes from the confidence we have built up over the last few games. We had to believe that we could still win the game and we did that. "Out of the last seven matches we have taken 17 points and have kept six clean sheets, so you can see from those results that we are playing better and our confidence is up. "Now we have to keep going and make sure we are ready for the next game at Arsenal." |

Benitez praised the Dutchman for his hard-working nature and his overall team play that has helped the Reds get their season back on track in recent weeks. “I think everyone knows now what Kuyt can do for us. He’s not a player that is very skilful; not in the way we would normally understand of a skilful player with that kind of ability," Benitez said.
