AC Milan attacking midfielder Ronaldinho (30) has sustained a strained muscle injury to his left left during training and must rest for about a week.

AC Milan's Brazilian star Ronaldinho has been ruled of the weekend's four-team Emirates Cup in London because of a muscle strain in his left leg.

There had been speculation that the Swede would be on his way out of the club after failing to produce the form that made his name at Italian giants Inter Milan. However, the 28-year-old will remain at the club and battle for a place with new signing David Villa this season as Barca look to retain the La Liga title. Ibrahimovic said: "I am a Barcelona player and I will continue to be one. "The rumours have not affected me because I have not had any doubts that I want to stay. I have taken them as a compliment."

Liverpool return to competitive action in tonight’s rather embarrassing Europa League third round first leg qualifier against Macedonian side FC Rabotnicki. Gourlay was quick to deny any gossip that their star man was leaving West London in the summer. The Ivory Coast international has been linked with big-spending Manchester City and Inter Milan. But Gourlay has insisted that the 32-year-old - who is under contract until 2012 - will at least see out this season. "Didier will be a Chelsea player next year. AC Milan fullback Luca Antonini says Ronaldinho has been upbeat since his return to training. Speculation continues over Ronie's future at the Rossoneri. But Antonini said: "Ronaldinho is calm and peaceful, without any nervousness. He's trying to get in shape, AC Milan need him." The agent of AC Milan defender Thiago Silva admits Real Madrid are pressing to sign the Brazil international. Rossoneri chief Adriano Galliani insisted earlier this week that none of their senior players would be allowed to leave this summer. But Silva's agent, Paulo Tonietto, told globoesporte.com: "First of all, Thiago Silva is very happy at Milan. "Barcelona? Only speculation, but there is interest from Real Madrid, who is dealing directly with Milan. A Madrid manager came to ask about the situation of Thiago, and I told him that apart from being flattered by the interest of a team like Real, he has a contract until 2013 and is at ease in Italy." Tonietto says €25 million would be enough for Milan to sell the defender. He added, "I do not know if Milan will accept, it does not depend on me or Thiago. Marco Materazzi says Inter Milan will benefit from selling Mario Balotelli to Manchester City. The Inter defender clashed with Balotelli last season, but insists it was nothing personal. "An error to sell Balotelli? At this point it can be an advantage for all," said Materazzi. "If Mario has chosen this agent, then he wanted to leave Inter. And Inter, who has paid zero and sells for €35 million, makes a major profit.
