| Sydney to face Wellington without Cole |
Sydney FC defender Shannon Cole will miss his second match in a row after not coming up for tomorrow’s Preliminary Final against Wellington Phoenix. The 24-year old injured his hamstring on international debut for Australia a week-and-a-half ago and was forced out of the major semi-final second leg against Melbourne Victory last Sunday. Sky Blues coach Vitezslav Lavicak confirmed that Cole would also miss the Sydney Football Stadium clash with the Phoenix. “He has a special training program, he's very keen to play," Lavicka said. "But he's not ready so we keep him and hopefully he will be available for the grand final if we make it." Seb Ryall, who filled Cole’s vacancy last week, will remain in the right-back position for tomorrow’s clash. |

| A-League prediction - Wellington Phoenix juggernaut to roll on |
The 2009/10 A-League Preliminary Final between Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix is upon us. The penultimate match of another exciting season has arrived with the Sydney Football Stadium playing host to an expected big crowd as the Sky Blues and Phoenix wrestle for a chance to take on the Melbourne Victory in the Grand Final. As is the norm at this stage of the season, everyone puts in their two bobs’ worth as to why one team can win and why the other can’t and here at tribalfootball.com we are no exception. I believe the Wellington juggernaut will roll on despite being away from Westpac Stadium and up against a determined Sydney outfit who are well-drilled by their coach, Czech tactician Vitezslav Lavicka. The Sky Blues have won many games 1-0 this season as their defence, consisting of Sung-Hwan Byun, Simon Colosimo, Stephan Keller and Shannon Cole, regularly cuts out opposition advances but I think they are now ripe for the picking, especially after conceding four goals in two games[...] |

| Wellington’s Reddy hoping for Australia chance |
Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Liam Reddy is hoping his chance to push for Australian selection comes soon. The 28-year old has consistently been one of the best shot-stoppers in the A-League over the past few seasons and has only got better since his switch from the Brisbane Roar to the Phoenix but he is keen to be given an opportunity by the national team to prove he has what it takes to be selected for the World Cup squad. ''I don't know why it hasn't happened - all I want is a chance to show the coaches what I can do,'' he said. The 28-year old also has a big-name supporter in ex-Australia and AC Milan keeper Zeljko Kalac who believes he is worthy of Socceroos selection. ''To be honest, I'm surprised he's not had a look-in with the Socceroos,'' Kalac said. Rumours linking Reddy with a three-year deal to join Sydney FC next season have gained traction and a deals is likely to be signed once this season’s finals series are complete. |

| Reddy in, Bolton out is good business for Sydney – Kalac |
Former Socceroos and AC Milan goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac believes the change Sydney FC is set to make for next season is a good one. Current goalkeeper Clint Bolton has been given permission to leave the club and duly signed a two-year deal with new club Melbourne Heart as the Sky Blues are set to secure the services of current Wellington Phoenix gloveman Liam Reddy on a three-year deal once the finals series is complete. And Kalac, who is a big wrap for Reddy, says it is the perfect time for Sydney to make a change of this magnitude. ''For 'Boutsa' [Bolton] it's the perfect time for a change,'' said Kalac. ''He's been there for five years, and obviously last year was a difficult one because he lost his spot. But this season he's come back fighting, he's been in great form, and that's when you want to be leaving, when you're on a high. ''With Liam, they're getting a much younger [six years] keeper whom I've got[...] |

| Sydney’s Aloisi still unsure of future |
Sydney FC striker John Aloisi is still unsure of his future at the club further on than this season. The 34-year old has returned to some of his best form in recent weeks for the Sky Blues, who face Wellington Phoenix in the Preliminary Final tomorrow, but he has not yet made a decision regarding his playing future. Aloisi has been closely linked with a move to incoming A-League club Melbourne Heart and double that with the fact that current Adelaide United striker Sergio van Dijk was tipped to join Sydney, it seemed almost a foregone conclusion that he would leave. But the club’s CEO Edwin Lugt said Sydney were still happy to have the former Australia international. “Johnny has proven in the latter half of the season to still be a great player and personality and, yes, we are talking to him about staying," Lugt said. “We have made it clear to Johnny that it's not too late (to stay). "He says he's not made up his mind yet (about any offers)." |
